Ateneo controlled the game from start to finish as the Ateneo De Manila Blue Eagles dominated the UE Red Warriors, 97-73. With the win, Ateneo remains immaculate in 11 games while UE falls further down to 3-9.
Scoring sensation Alvin Pasaol was limited to a season low 8 points, thanks to the tight defense of Thirdy Ravena and the rest of the Blue Eagles. Pasaol has been the talk of the town since his 49-point explosion against La Salle in the first round and has been on a tear since then but the Eagles did a good job of limiting Pasaol, forcing him on taking tough, contested shots. Pasaol shot a terrible 2/11 from the field. He scored 4 points during the first quarter and another 4 points during the fourth quarter, which was essentially during garbage time.
Aside from his defensive duties against Pasaol, Thirdy Ravena was also the top scorer for the Eagles with 17 points. Jolo Mendoza provided quality minutes, scoring 13 points in just 11 minutes. He did not miss a single shot during the game, making 4/4 field goals and 3/3 triples and going 2/2 from the charity stripe. Vince Tolentino and Rafael Verano scored 12 points a-piece.
Mark Maloles led the way for the Red Warriors, as he scored 20 points while Mark Olayon contributed 15 points.
