Ateneo makes a quick work on FEU, remains undefeated

Ateneo Blue Eagles defeated the FEU Tamaraws, 70-59 on Saturday in the UAAP 80 Men’s Basketball Tournament at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

It was another close game during the first three quarters, before the Ateneans took control of the fourth quarter.

With the win, Ateneo remains immaculate in 10 games and assure them for a playoff slot.

The Tamaraws started the game strong, thanks to the offensive firepower of Arvin Tolentino and Ron Dennison as the first quarter ended, 21-12 in favor of FEU.

The Tamaraws remained in control of the ball game during the second quarter, but just can’t pull away against Ateneo.

Ateneo started to control the pace of the game during the third quarter.

Anton Asistio scored all of his 6 points during that quarter, to cut the lead of FEU.

The FEU community thought they had Ateneo figured out but it was all Ateneo during the final period, as they out scored FEU, 23-9 during the final period.

Matt Nieto and Rafael Verano scored 14 points each for the Katipunan based squad.

Ron Dennison scored 12 points for FEU while former Blue Eagles Arvin Tolentino and Hubert Cani scored 12 and 11 points respectively for FEU who now falls to 5-5.
