Robert Bolick capped his game long brilliance with a go-ahead three point basket with 8.5 seconds remaining to lead San Beda to a title-clinching 75-72 victory against his former team the De La Salle University Green Archers in the last game of the Filoil Flying V Preseason Premier Cup in the Filoil Flying V Centre in City of San Juan.

Right from the tip-off, Bolick tried to attack La Salle’s defense and even engaged Ben Mbala to a trash talking match.  But in the end, it was Bolick’s moment to shine as he went straight to La Salle’s bench and gave dagger looks to everyone after sinking the final basket.

Trailing by 3 entering the final minute of the championship match, AC Soberano nailed a clutch three to tie the match at 72-all before paving the way for Robert Bolick’s heroic basket.

The victory comes extra special for San Beda as not only they swept the Filoil preseason tournament with an 11-0 record but they also beat the reigning UAAP champions twice, both on Robert Bolick’s exceptional performance. But the last basket against his former team will definitely be one of the most memorable for Bolick, who played 2 years for the Green Archers and played juniors basketball for La Salle Greenhills.

“Sobrang saya ko kasi kahit sino namang player basta makashoot na game winning tapos championship pa hindi mo makakalimutan yun mga moments na yun.” said Bolick.

Bolick already had 16 points in the first half but his individual efforts did not please Coach Boyet Fernandez. “He was forcing his shots. And we only had 4 assists in the whole first half.” said Fernandez. “I told him you cannot win alone. If you want to beat La Salle, it will not be with your own self. You have to play with the team” coach Fernandez said to Bolick.

It was a different Bolick that came out after halftime. Heeding the call of his coach, he shared the basketball as Davonn Potts, AC Soberano and Clint Doliguez were recipients of Robert Bolick’s assists.

Bolick finished the game with 24 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists. Jayvee Mocon had 13 points and 13 rebounds for the Red Lions.

Ben Mbala once again led La Salle as he capped his Filoil preseason league game with 25 points, 14 rebounds and 4 blocks. Aljun Melecio backed him up with 14 points and 8 rebounds.
