Michael Calisaan exploded for 36 points to lift the San Sebastian College-Recoletos Golden Stags over the Colegio de San Juan de Letran, 74-69, in the NCAA Season 93 Men’s Basketball Tournament at the MOA Arena, Tuesday.
Bong Quinto had the chance to bring the lead back to Letran, but he split from the charity stripe, only good enough to tie the game at 69-all with a minute remaining in the game.
Ryan Costelo, then, drove down the lane for a floater to push Baste ahead by two with 44.9 ticks left.
Jeo Ambohot tried to regain the edge for the Knights, however, his shot from beyond the arc came up short. JM Calma pulled down the board off the miss as the Stags called a timeout.
Calisaan daggered a trey to give San Sebastian more breathing room, 74-69, with only 17 seconds to play and it was eventually the final score of the game.
Aside from his excellent scoring night, Calisaan also grabbed 10 rebounds. Costelo posted 13 markers, nine in the last four minutes, while Regille Ilagan and Enzo Navarro added six points apiece.
Jeremiah Taladua led the Knights with 16 points and five rebounds. Bong Quinto tallied a double-double output of 15 points and 11 boards. Rey Nambatac, who played his last year in the NCAA, chipped in 11 markers.
The Stags will face the third-seeded Jose Rizal University Heavy Bombers in a do-or-die match on Friday still at the same venue. The win also sealed SSC-R a slot in the Final Four for the first time since 2013.
