The UP Lady Maroons got hold of a semis ticket from the DLSU Lady Spikers after the latter beat the NU Lady Bulldogs in four sets, 25-14, 21-25, 25-19, and 25-15; taking away their chance for a Final Four playoff last April 13 at the Filoil Flying V Centre in San Juan.
Wing spiker Kim Dy posted her season high 25 points, from 15 kills, five blocks and five aces. Majoy Baron scored 13 from 10 kills, and three blocks, while Mika Reyes scored the game-winning ace and posted 10 points.
La Salle committed 31 unforced errors but led in all skills department.
Playmaker and captain Kim Fajardo plowed 59 sets compared to Ivy Perez’ 30, and the Taft-based squad bannered 12 blocks and 13 aces against NU’s 5 blocks and 5 aces.
Jaja Santiago carried the Lady Bulldogs with 14 points from 10 kills, 2 blocks and aces; Aiko Urdas and Jorelle Singh tried to help with 9 apiece, and team captain Myla Pablo was limited to 2 points.
The Lady Spikers redeemed themselves after losing to archrival Ateneo Lady Eagles last Sunday in a five-set thriller, and ended with an 11-3 win loss card and second overall in the team rankings. National University Lady Bulldogs ended the season with a 7-7 win-loss record and ranked 5th in the overall team standings.
