The fourth-seeded FEU Tamaraws dominated the heavily favored top seeded Ateneo De Manila Blue Eagles, 80-67 to force a do-or-die Game 2 in their Final Four series.
FEU was in control of the entire ball game, as they showed the hunger and the passion that is needed for a team that is facing elimination. FEU led by as much as 17 points. Ateneo just can’t sustain a rally during the fourth quarter, as the defense of FEU was just spot on all through out the ball game. FEU scored 17 points off turnovers. The starters of FEU out-scored the starters of Ateneo, 49-36.
Graduating player Ron Dennison made sure that his college career would be extended for at least another game, as he top scored for the Tamaraws with 17 points, 8 of them during the crucial third quarter run. To add insult to injury, a couple of former Blue Eagles also played well for the Tamaraws as Arvin Tolentino scored 13 points while Hubert Cani dropped 11 markers. Thirdy Ravena led the way for the Blue Eagles with 17 points while the Nieto brothers combined for 24 points.
The do-or-die game 2 will be played this Wednesday at the Mall of Asia Arena. The winner of that match will face the defending champions De La Salle Green Archers in the best-of-three finals, which will start this Saturday, also in the Mall of Asia Arena.
