MANILA — The FEU Lady Tamaraws keep their Final Four hopes alive with a straight sets win against the UE Lady Warriors on Wednesday at the Filoil Flying V Arena in San Juan, 25-14, 25-18, 27-25.
With the second round of eliminations of UAAP Season 79 already at its homestretch, the Lady Tamaraws are on survival mode as they are one game behind the UST Golden Tigresses, the UP Lady Maroons, and the NU Lady Bulldogs who are at three-way tie at third place.
The victory not only allowed FEU to continue to chase for the last two slots in the Final Four, but it also boosted their confidence after a big loss against the Golden Tigresses last Saturday.
Bernadeth Pons led the way for the Lady Tamaraws with 11 points, 15 excellent digs, and six excellent receptions. Remy Palma also provided the added the lift with nine points, including a crucial block in the closing moments of the third set.
The Lady Warriors tried to mount a comeback in the third set through the heroics of Shaya Adorador who finished with a team-high 11 points. However, the grit of the Lady Tamaraws, as well as some costly errors on the part of UE in the crucial moments of the third set, cost them the match.
FEU now holds a record of 6-6, and will continue to fight for their tournament lives against the NU Lady Bulldogs on Saturday, April 1.
