MANILA – After being swept in the semi-finals of the 13th Shakey’s V-League Conference despite finishing on top of the standings in the quarters, the FEU Lady Tamaraws turned their attention to their new foe – the feisty UP Lady Maroons.
Like the veterans that they are, the Lady Tamaraws survived a UP fightback scare on Monday in five thrilling sets, 25-23, 25-23, 21-25, 21-25, 15-9.
The duo of Heather Anne Guino-o and Toni Rose Basas did most of the damage with 23 and 21 points, respectively.
Two other Lady Tams scored double digits. Team captain Remy Palma tallied 15 points, while transferee Celine Domingo had 10 points across her name.
Nicole Tiamzon, Isa Molde, and Tots Carlos, who scored 19, 16, and 15 points for the Lady Maroons, will have to gun it out on Wednesday to keep their medal dreams alive.
Game 2 of the Battle-for-Third series is on September 14, Wednesday, at the Philsports Arena.
