Fiery San Miguel Sets Tone as Beermen Foil Ginebra in Game One Dogfight

San Miguel Beer made the best out of its Game One performance on Friday, as it trounced on Barangay Ginebra, 109-82, in the PBA Philippine Cup 2017 Finals at the Mall of Asia Arena, Pasay City.

Coming off a fine starter quarter which bubbled to an instant 23-point romp, Coach Leo Austria’s red-hot Beermen anchored on Alex Cabagnot’s crisp baskets to hinder the then-shackled Gin Kings midway through the Finals opener.

Chris Ross, who also powered an all-around offense stunt, highlighted his performance with 17 baskets, while June Mar Fajardo simply unleashed “The Kraken” he is as his presence was felt in the shaded lane.

Alongside Ross, Fajardo also capped off his show with another 17 markers for the Beermen.

It also did not help the Kings that Ronald Tubid came off the bench with his own stand of 16 hits halfway through the joust, to only worsen the drag that Ginebra has been enduring.

The Governor’s Cup 2016 champion, on the other hand, listed their ill-fated loss despite Chris Ellis’ 13 markers, and Jervy Cruz’s 12 points.

The intense ball war continues as the PBA Philippine Cup Finals Game 2 is set to grace the Quezon Province on Sunday.
