After a shocking defeat on a 3-0 match on the first round, the De La Salle University Lady Spikers enacted their revenge to the University of Santo Thomas Golden Tigresses 25-11, 25-13, 25-17 in their second match-up in the UAAP Season 78 Women’s Volleyball Tournament at San Juan Arena, March 12.
The Lady Spikers completely dominated the Tigresses, burying them behind a large deficit in three straight set with no chance to retaliate.
Kim Dy played key role for La Salle with 12 points while Mika Reyes and Ara Galang added 11 points apiece.
DLSU utilized their impeccable net defense shattering UST’s confidence and launched tricky attacks and drop balls. The Tigresses were able shorten the distance on the last frame but their efforts were not enough to stop the energized Spikers, halting the match with a reception error.
No one from UST finished with double digits as Captain EJ Laure listed eight points while Cherry Ann Rondina contributed seven points.
UST dropped to 5-4 removing them from the best four while DLSU joined rival Ateneo to the top with 7-2 win-loss record.
