Lions blow out Blazers to stay undefeated

Thanks to a balanced attack, the San Beda College Red Lions dominated the College of St. Benilde Blazers, 90-63, to stay undefeated in the first round of eliminations of NCAA Season 92 at the Filoil Flying V Center in San Juan.

Four players scored in double figures led by Davon Potts with 19 points on three three pointers followed by Donald Tankoua who tallied a double double of 17 points and 14 rebounds. Robert Bolick and Radge Tongco had 11 points each with Tongco having three assists.

The Lions now stand at 4-0 in the win-loss column and are now one of two teams, along with the Mapua Cardinals at 3-0, that remain undefeated.

“Right now we’re dedicated to playing defense,” Lions head coach Jamike Jarin said of their undefeated streak.

San Beda forced St. Benilde to a mediocre 30 percent from the field and was also pressured to 36 turnovers as a team.

“We also hit the open man, we looked for who’s hot and the open shot,”

“‘Yung dedication and ‘yung commitment to one another is working for us.” Jarin said.

Javee Mocon also contributed as he tallied an all-around game of eight points, six rebounds and seven assists.

For the Blazers, Clement Leutcheu’s double-double of 19 points and 15 rebounds proved to be in vain. Yankie Haruna also contributed 17 points and three rebounds. CSB has yet to win a game as they are now 0-5 in the standings.
