Rafael Pescos and Cinderella Lorenzo dominated the male and female division of the 41st National Milo Marathon Manila Leg Sunday morning at the SM Mall of Asia grounds in Pasay City.
The 23-year old Pescos finished the 42K route that started and ended at the Seaside Boulevard with a time of 2:38:27. The first-time marathon winner bested Erick Panique (2:43:10) and Noel Tillor (2:47:31) to earn the top prize of 50,000 pesos and a slot to the National Milo Marathon finals to be held in Cebu on December 3.
Sharing the top honors in the female division is Cinderella Lorenzo of Taguig who finished with the time of 3:16:15. Lorenzo, who finished third in last year’s Milo Marathon Manila qualifiers, beat Lany Cardona and Lizane Abella who finished 3:23:38 and 3:29:48 respectively.
Over 32,000 runners trooped the Mall of Asia grounds early Sunday morning to join the Manila leg of the 41st National Milo Marathon despite threat of monsoon rains brought about by Typhoon Gorio that affected the metropolis during the past few days.
Meanwhile, Gregg Vincent Osorio (1:16:00) and Jhanine Mansueto (1:35:00) topped the 21K category while Jackson Kiprotich Chirchir (0:31:59) and Diane Ong (0:46:57). Youngsters Rustom Nava (0:16:56) and Maricris Naciluan (0:21:12) ruled the 5K boy and girls category respectively while Mark Daniel Tanbot (0:10:44) and Samantha Nicole Caneba (0:12:01) shared the top honors in the 3K boys and girls category.
The National Milo Marathon will continue in Angeles (August 6), Tarlac (August 13), Naga (August 27), Lucena (September 03), Lipa (September 10), Tagbilaran (September 24), Roxas (October 1), Iloilo (October 8), General Santos (October 15), Davao (October 22), Butuan (November 12), and Cagayan De Oro (November 19). Qualifiers from the various National Milo Marathon qualifying legs will travel to Cebu on December 3 for the National Milo Marathon Finals.
