NU Bags Cheerdance Title Despite Unflawless Routine; Owes Win To Difficult Pyramids

Even with a an error filled routine, the National University (NU) Pep Squad were named the 2015 UAAP Cheerdance Competition Champions last Saturday at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay.

Garnering a total of 668 point from the judges, NU was followed by the University of Santo Tomas (UST) Salinggawi Dance Troupe at 1st runner up with a total of 651.5 points and the University of the Philippines (UP) Pep Squad with 610.5 points.

“Nung nagkamali yung ilang members ko sa isang routine, ang pumasok sa isip ko: ‘Teka, apat na pyramid ‘yung nilaban ko e” said NU head coach Jica Bernabe.

“Sabi ko kahit wala pa yung pyramid two, alam namin yung tatlong pyramid namin lalaban. So hindi kami naging ganoong ka-worried na mabilis ‘tong maaagaw sa amin.”, she added.

With the win, the NU Pep Squad also managed to achieve a historic three-peat joining the likes of UST and UP who have attained such a feat.

In the Cheer Stunts event, UST bagged the crown with NU following at 1st-runner up and the Far Eastern University (FEU) Pep Squad at 2nd-runner up.
