NU stuns FEU to keep slim Final Four chances alive.

The National University Bulldogs pulled off a come-from-behind 87-84 win against the FEU Tamaraws to remain alive for a Final Four appearance. Needing a win to avoid outright elimination, the Bulldogs relied on the efforts of key guys such as Issa Gaye, Jay Jay Alejandro and even Antonio Joson.

Trailing 72-64 going into the fourth quarter, Alejandro and Gaye ignited a furious Bulldog run to pick up the much-needed victory. Alejandro exploded for 11 points during the final quarter while Gaye scored 9 points during that quarter as well. FEU only scored 12 points during that final period, as their inconsistency during the entire season so far showed during the payoff period.

Issa Gaye had a monster game of 24 points and 11 rebounds for the Bulldogs. Jay Jay Alejandro scored 17 points while Antonio Joson chipped in 13 points. Arvin Tolentino and Ron Dennison scored 21 points each for the Tamaraws.

With the victory, NU goes up to 5-8 while FEU falls down to 6-7. This Saturday, NU will face UP, who is also sporting a 5-8 record, and FEU will face Adamson. If FEU loses this Saturday, they will face the winner of the NU-UP game for the last Final Four slot, however, if FEU wins, they automatically makes it to the Final Four, making the last weekend of the regular season of the UAAP a must watch weekend for all UAAP fans.
