Paul Desiderio once again delivered a game-winning basket for the Diliman faithful, as the UP Fighting Maroons defeated the FEU Tamaraws, 59-56, thanks to a Desiderio game winning triple. With the win, UP and FEU are now tied at 4th place with a 5-6 record, making the Final Four race an exciting and unpredictable one as we are down to the last few games of the elimination round.
It was actually a come-from-behind victory for UP. FEU was ahead by 10, 53-43 midway through the fourth quarter, but the Maroons showed everyone that they would not roll over and die, ending the game with a 16-3 run. Aside from his game-winning basket, Desiderio also prides himself as a “Dennision stopper”, forcing the FEU star to shot a horrible 4/13 from the field to finish with just 9 points.
Desiderio led the way for the Maroons with 15 points while Ibrahim Quattara chipped in 10 points. Jasper Parker led the way for FEU with 13 points while Arvin Tolentino added 12 points.
