POCARI SWEAT jumpstarts Finals race to inch closer to SVL crown

MANILA – With a feisty new challenger at the opposite side of the net, the Pocari Sweat Lady Warriors held their own at the PhilSports Arena on Saturday.

The Lady Warriors flexed their muscle against the Bureau of Customs Transformers in Game One of the Shakey’s V-League Reinforced Conference Finals, 25-22, 25-18, 25-18.

Top reinforcement Brie Mackie and seasoned veteran Michele Gumabao combined forces in the highly anticipated match with 13 points apiece. Gumabao also added seven excellent digs and three excellent receptions across her name.

While the usual offensive artillery of Pocari Sweat was on point, it was their defensive tenacity that won them the game. The Lady Warriors shut the door for the BOC Transformers several times, and even tallied 15 block points as a team.

The Lady Warriors also successfully limited the production of BOC’s most potent scorer Alyssa Valdez to 12 points. The multi-awarded athlete also tallied nine digs in the game.

With their convincing victory against the league’s newcomers, Pocari Sweat is now one win away from the much-coveted championship. The contenders will once again meet on Monday at the PhilSports Arena.
