Salem ends slump as Bulldogs hands Maroons its third loss

The National University Bulldogs is now back in the winning column as they defeated the struggling University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons, 77-70, in the UAAP 80 Men’s Basketball Tournament on Sunday at Mall of Asia Arena.

Matt Salem exploded for 21 big points for the Bulldogs, and the three-point specialist drilled in 5 triples for this crucial match up.

Issa Gaye added 13 points while Jay Jay Alejandro chipped in 12 points for the Bulldogs.

Paul Desiderio led the way for the Maroons with 15 markers. Diego Dario added 11 points while Javier Gomez de Liano finished with 10 points.

UP is now on a three-game losing streak and have not won a game since their upset of defending champions DLSU a couple of weeks ago.

Both teams are now tied for 5th place with a 3-4 record.
