The Adamson University Soaring Falcons handed the Far Eastern University a beating, 95-79, to nab their fourth consecutive victory in the first round of the UAAP Season 80 Men’s Basketball Tournament at the Mall of Asia Arena, yesterday.
AdU controlled the pace right from the get-go as Rob Manalang connected from beyond the arc to build a 24-11 margin with 2:14 remaining in the first quarter.
FEU could not find any rhythm. The Soaring Falcons continued to pounce on the Tamaraws and broke the game wide open, 61-40, at halftime.
An unsportsmanlike foul called on Ron Dennison and an ejection slapped on Arvin Tolentino did not help FEU’s cause on bidding for a comeback as the outcome of the game was already known even before the final canto.
Jerrick Ahanmisi and Jonathan Espeleta paced Adamson with 17 points apiece, while Papi Sarr had 14 points and 14 rebounds.
On the flip side, Jasper Parker and Ron Dennison were the only Tamaraws who barged into double figures with 12 and 11 markers respectively.
