Scottie Thompson with another triple-double this season making it his 7th
University of Perpetual Help System-Dalta extended its winning streak as the Altas made short work of cellar-dweller Emilio Aguinaldo College, 89-59, in the NCAA Season 91 Men’s Basketball Division on Tuesday, at the FilOil Flying V Arena, San Juan.
The 30-point lopsided victory sent the Las Pinas-based Altas to their eleventh win in fifteen games to reign on a three-way logjam on the top berth alongside co-leaders Letran Knights and San Beda Red Lions, all three with 11-4 cards.
PBA-bound Scottie Thompson never failed to impress as he registered another triple-double result for Coach Aric Del Rosario’s team. Unsurprisingly, Thompson finished with 10 markers, 14 boards, and 13 assists to strengthen Perpetual Help’s bid for another Final Four appearance.
In addition, underrated Gerald Dizon led all scorers in Perpetual Help with 18 points, followed by import Prince Eze with 11 hits. Gabriel Dagangon and Bright Akhuetie also do their share with 9 points apiece.
Like what they did during their Friday match against the College of Saint Benilde Blazers, the Altas landed a commanding run onset of the opening period and showed the EAC Generals who’s dominant on the match.
The Generals plotted a putback though, yet the Altas still kept them behind with a 9-point lead at halftime, 39-30.
EAC still attempted to make the impossible possible, only to fail as Perpetual Help ballooned its cushion to as many as 14 points, 25-11, in the third quarter which basically settled the one-sided joust.
Perpetual Help looked ahead for the foreseen aftermath of the match, but an unexpected incident happened in the final 1:38 ticks of the final period when Perpetual Help’s Niko Cabiltes and EAC’s Faustine Pascual and Jeric Diego involved themselves on a heated brawl, thus resulting to their ejection from the game.
Despite the unlikely court commotion, the EAC Generals still put up a ballgame and drew numbers from Christ Mejos with 13 points and Jozhua General with 11 markers.
The ill-fated run of the Generals this Season 91 extended to 2-13 win-loss mark.
