CHANGHUA CITY, TAIWAN – Sans its prolific but temperamental import Ivan Johnson, Tanduay Alab Pilipinas finally made it to the win column via a convincing 78-61 victory at the expense of the Formosa Dreamers at Changhua County Stadium in Taiwan.
Right from the tip-off, Alab looked hungrier for the win against their opponents as they pounced on their opponents offensively and made the Dreamers work hard for their points defensively. As a team, Alab shot 40% of their field goals against the lowly 28% of Formosa.
With Johnson out (due to back spasms), Reggie Okosa took matters into his own hands leading Alab with 19 points, 19 rebounds and 2 blocks. Ray Parks and Josh Urbiztondo provided ample support to their import as they contributed 12 points each and collectively had 16 rebounds and 10 assists.
The breakthrough win of Alab Pilipinas is also the first for their rookie head coach Jimmy Alapag. All players fielded in by Coach Jimmy scored for Tanduay Alab Pilipinas.
Alab’s first win came at the last game of the year for the team who will be back in action at home against Westports Malaysia Dragons on January 3 at the Ynares Sports Center in Antipolo City.
