La Salle Bags Three-Setter Win Over Adamson to Gear Up for Ateneo Face Off

The De La Salle Lady Spikers are revved up for their head-on battle against Ateneo after a smooth 25-13, 25-15, 25-17 win over Adamson University on Sunday in the UAAP Season 77 Women’s Volleyball Tournament at the FilOil Flying V Arena, San Juan.

La Salle notched its 12th victory out of an overall 13 outings, and the Lady Spikers will face their archrival Ateneo Lady Eagles, who runs for an elimination round sweep and a thrice-to-beat finals appearance.

Unlike their recent matches, the Lady Spikers already learned their lesson and did not allow complacency to snatch their momentum anymore. As a result, the Taft based-squad owned the first and second sets over the gritty Adamson Lady Falcons.

Adamson standouts Mylene Paat and Amanda Villanueva struggled to reorganize the squad and braced for a fightback, however, La Salle was too much for them to handle and the Lady Falcons was only able to tally 17 points as their highest period score.

With another strong victory, the Lady Spikers are in the highest morale to try to halt the Ateneo Lady Eagles’ unblemished winning streak on Wednesday, at the Mall of Asia Arena.

Team Captain Ara Galang buried 20 points to lead the Lady Spikers while Desiree Cheng contributed 13 hits.

Myleen Paat scored 11 for the Adamson Lady Falcons, who drops to the fourth spot alongside University of the Philippines with both 5-7 record.
